Stolen SUV spotted by owner, suspect arrested
A woman whose vehicle was reported stolen in January says she found it herself — driving on Marine Corps Drive. According to a magistrate’s complaint filed in superior court, the owner of a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse recognized her SUV on Monday by a distinct dent and matching license plate.
She followed the vehicle from Route 1 to Barrigada and called police after the driver parked in front of a residence.
Officers responded and say the windows were down when they approached. When an officer attempted to open a door, the alarm sounded. The driver, identified as 49-year-old Badobino Sablan Taisacan, also known as “Bino,” came out of the residence and deactivated the alarm.
Taisacan was charged Tuesday with theft by receiving a stolen vehicle as a second-degree felony and operating a vehicle without a license.
Court documents state he told police a woman and her boyfriend offered to sell him the SUV. He allegedly paid half upfront, received a key, and continued making payments — but never reviewed any paperwork.
