Stats & Plans releases Census demographic summary

Guam – The US Census Bureau released the 2010 Census Guam demographic
profile summary file this week. The report contains the territories
detailed information based on population and housing subjects taken
from the 2010 Guam Census questionnaire. The file shows a 2.9% total
population increase on Guam between 2000 and 2010. The report notes in
2010 there was a recorded 59,381 Chamorro, which is a 3.6% increase
over a ten year period as well as 11,230 Chuukese estimating an 80.3%
increase. The report also shows a slight 3% increase of Filipinos in
2010 totaling 41, 944, but also shows a minor decrease of Chinese and
Korean residents.
The report also shows that between 2000 and 2010 there was an 11.9%
increase in single-mothers with children under the age of 18, and a
3.5% increase in single-fathers with children under the age of 18.
