Guam - More affordable housing projects are on the horizon for the Guam Housing Corporation. According to president Martin Benavente, during its board meeting this afternoon members discussed amending the Guam Rental Policy Manual to aid in moving forward with rentals. He adds just as 10 homes in Sagan Linahyan in Dededo were completed and are awaiting occupancy permits to lease and rent out, he's already working with the Guam Legislature to provide 65 additional unassigned lots in Sagan Linahyan to use, as well.

"And these are lots that have been sitting there for the past 20 some years and not being used and they're vacant right now, no houses on it but what's exciting is that the infrastructure is totally there," he explained.

He adds other ongoing initiatives include its first time Homeowners Assistant Program in which a total of 21 families have been awarded grant certificates totaling over $132,000 helping families with mortgage fees and closing costs on homes.
