Guam - 52-year-old Timothy Achanto was sentenced to eight years in jail this afternoon. It was News Years 2011 when he was driving drunk killing his two passengers. In court today Chief Prosecutor Basil O'mallan asked that he serve a total of four years. Defense Attorney Annie Gayle on the other hand requested that he be released and that he be sentenced to time served which has been just less than one year now.

Several of Achanto's relative as well as relatives of the two victims were at today's sentencing. They told the judge they forgave him for the incident. Judge Anita Sukola however moved forward with the 8-year sentence giving credit for time served.

Achanto was ordered to turn himself into authorities immediately.
