Guam - The leadership positions for the incoming 32nd Guam Legislature are up for grabs and both parties will be meeting soon to determine who will take over what roles. According to Speaker Judi Won Pat's office, the Democrat majority hope to meet once all members are on-island to determine who will lead the legislature along with determining who will lead which committees.
Won Pat will be leaving island tomorrow for the Association of Pacific Island Legislatures' board meeting in Pohnpei, which she resides over as president, and won't return until December 8. Her office confirms that several members of the democrat majority have been meeting individually and hope to solidify the rolls before the end of the term.
Meanwhile, according to Assistant Minority Leader Aline Yamashita, the Republicans will be meeting on December 12 to determine their leadership roles and most notably the minority leader position that is up for grabs after current minority leader Frank Blas Jr.'s failed attempt in the congressional race.
