Guam - Superior Court Judge Anita Sukola denied three police officers' requests to be released from jail.  Sukola said she believes that based on the testimony provided by GPD Officer and FBI Special Task Force member Tracey Volta, the victims in the case remain in fear of the officers.  The judge noted that the bail amounts for Officers David Q. Manila, Anthony Quenga and Mario Laxamana were the "least onerous."

The officers are accused of aiding and abetting prostitution at the Blue House Lounge.  Owner Song Ja Cha lured girls from Chuuk offering them jobs in Guam but when they arrived she took the girls' passports and forced them in to prostitution at her lounge.  Cha was supposed to answer to the criminal charges handed down in a superseding indictment against her this morning but the court has still be unable to find her a Korean interpreter.

Cha and the officers are scheduled to appear back in court on Monday for an arraignment. Defense attorneys for the three officers will be arguing their motions for dismissal during that hearing.  The government meanwhile has opposed the dismissal of the charges.
