Guam - The Guam Memorial Hospital's emergency response plans should a catastrophic typhoon hit the island were put to the test this morning. Typhoon Kadu'a was an exercise that focused on testing the hospital's tropical cyclone activation and implementation plan and scrutinized how hospital resources were managed.

Hospital chief planner William Kando says the exercise allowed GMH to identify its strengths and weaknesses. "It refreshes everyone it really brings everyone back up to speed. We haven't had a major typhoon since Pongsona, which is about ten years now. We always have to be on guard for the inevitable. it's not a matter of if but it's a matter of when we're going to get our next strong typhoon," he said.

Although we've been spared from any storms in recent years, the hospital updates its tropical cyclone plan every year.
