Guam - It's been more than a decade since Yigo resident Joseph Taitano was issued his first notice of violation from the Guam Environmental Protection Agency and now the alleged illegal dumper is looking to speed up his trial. At today's scheduling conference, the 73-year-old Taitano requested that Judge Arthur Barcinas push up the dates so he may seek off-island medical treatment.

Meanwhile, Guam EPA attorney Happy Rons requested to push back trial to July as the issue is a "complex case" with 62 witnesses. Taitano is looking to file a countersuit as he insists the government dumped on his Yigo property.

"The materials are still there from when the fire started they took the materials and dumped it in the same, adjacent lot," he said. "So it's still there they have to move it. They charged me daily so I have to charge them daily so the more time they wait, the more money I'm going to make."

Trial remains set for May 8.
