Guam - Residents in parts Yigo are stocking up on bottled water and surrounding their homes with water encatchments. It's been bare bone taps for the last two weeks in parts of the island's most northern village. For Yigo resident Dalia Gutierrez it's like life after a typhoon living with little-to-no water pressure.

"We have two kids here they go to school they cannot take a bath," she said. "In the front the house over there - there is somebody over there and she's under dialysis. And its very inconvenient, it seems a typhoon came and there's no water."

The last two weeks have been this way for residents along Chalan Lachance Enrique Rosario Street and Anas Court. Gutierrez says despite her efforts to get answers, she couldn't get any assurance from the Guam Waterworks Authority as to when her tap would be restored. "We also called the mayor's office and one of the secretaries answered and they said they called the GWA like that. They don't know when they're going to restore the water," she said.

Gutierrez's neighbor Nida Resurreccion says it's also been hard on her and her family. Her grandchildren can't shower before school. She can't shower before her dialysis appointments, and they're forced to eat out every night.

And like Gutierrez, Resurreccion's calls to GWA provided no answers. "I called them last night no answer I called them this morning they said they don't know what's going on and they don't know when the water will come back they don't know I don't know," she told KUAM News.

After weeks of no answers, GWA announced an emergency water outage for the 20 homes along the affected area in Yigo earlier this afternoon blaming power fluctuations as the cause for bare bone taps in the northern village. GWA spokesperson Heidi Ballendorf says GWA hopes to fully restore the area by midnight tonight but in the meantime will provide a tanker to assist residents.
