Guam - Superior Court Judge Anita Sukola has taken a motion to dismiss the case against Song Ja Cha, Freda Esuen and Saknin Weria under advisement this morning. The defense argues double-jeopardy, claiming Cha was already convicted of the crime in District Court and therefore law prohibits the local court from going forward with the charges. The prosecution disagreed.

Cha is appealing her federal conviction and life sentence for bringing young Chuukese women to Guam and forcing them to work as prostitutes without compensation. Although the motion to dismiss was taken under advisement, jury selection and trial is still set for November 21.
