Barrigada crash driver now in stable condition

Guam - A man who fled from police and crashed into another car and a utility pole killing his 4-year-old passenger, is now breathing on his own. 28-year-old Marco Nelson is listed in stable condition and was taken off the ventilator today. Nelson was driving a Toyota Yaris and refused to comply with a police traffic stop. Instead he sped away and collided with a Tucson at the Barrigada tri-intersection and slammed into a concrete pole.
The girl, who was improperly restrained in the back seat, died from injuries she sustained in the crash.
Police continue to investigate and have not said whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
