Drug trafficker to be sentenced Monday

The second defendant in a drug-trafficking case will be sentenced in the District Court of Guam this week.

Guam - The second defendant in a drug-trafficking case will be sentenced in the District Court of Guam this week. Trifon Pineda Jr. faces federal charges of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine.

He along with Noel Vitug was arrested last year after authorities found the drug Ice in mail packages sent from California to Guam on numerous occasions. Vitug was sentenced only to 48 months in prison for providing substantial assistance to the feds and accepting responsibility earlier this year.

Pineda will be sentenced Monday at 9:30am before Chief Judge Frances Tydingco Gatewood.
