DOE joins in mourning Gloria Nelson
The Guam Department of Education joins in mourning the former education board chairperson Gloria Nelson, who passed at the Guam Memorial Hospital on Sunday.

Guam - The Guam Department of Education joins in mourning the former education board chairperson Gloria Nelson, who passed at the Guam Memorial Hospital on Sunday. DOE superintendent Jon Fernandez asks the DOE community to keep nelson and her family in their prayers tonight and the days ahead.
Nelson graduated from George Washington High School, received her associate of arts degree from the Territorial College of Guam, her bachelor of science degree from Ohio State University, and her master of science degree from the University of New Mexico.
Nelson worked more than 30 years in education, beginning as a substitute elementary school teacher and later becoming a certified teacher, principal, deputy director, and director of doe.
In addition she served as an appointed and elected school board member where she also served as chairperson.
She was inducted into the Guam Educators Hall of Fame in 2010 for her career in public service and advocacy for children and educators.
Rosaries will be held nightly at 6pm in the Dulce Nombre De Maria Cathedral Basilica in Hagatna.
