Double-session continues

Guam - Phase I of science, technology, and engineering renovations to 17 classrooms at George Washington High School may be complete, but students and staff can expect to continue double-session until the end of the year for safety purposes. Deputy superintendent of assessment and accountability Rob Malay says the agency will need to identify more funding to support bussing in order to continue the adjusted bell schedule.
"We want to extend the double-session," he said, adding, "ultimately the length of time will be dependent on getting the work completed. Worse case scenario is end of second quarter if not earlier."
Department of Public Works deputy director Carl Dominguez tells KUAM News that DOE's $150,000 in ARRA funds to support leasing of additional busses, bus driver overtime, and fuel costs is close to depleted.
