Guam - Senators' attempt to override Bill 516 has failed. Nine Democrats voted in favor, while six Republicans voted against such action. Speaker Judi Won Pat introduced Bill 496 this evening, waiving the requirement of a public hearing to extend the deadline to obligate/expend stimulus funding for the Department of Education.

The measure would also restore the authority of the Legislative and Judicial branches of government to hire unclassified workers and change the language for cultural groups allowing them to provide perform community service at various cultural events around the island rather than just for the Guam Visitors Bureau.
