Guam - The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare returned to the island for an unannounced survey last week visiting the Skilled Nursing Unit in Barrigada Heights. The last time CMS representatives inspected the facility back in January, they found a number of deficiencies and indicated plans to deny new admissions and impose a $100 a day fine.
GMH administrator Joseph Verga confirms officials spent two days surveying the facility and an exit report indicated that many of the major concerns had been rectified. There were some findings regarding infection control, but Verga says he is waiting on the final report from CMS to get more specifics.
