Morning moped crash delays traffic for hours
by Nick Delgado
Guam - Southbound traffic was blocked off for several hours along Route 1 and Ysengsong Road as Guam Highway Patrol investigators spent the morning looking into a serious auto-moped crash in Dededo. Guam Police Department Spokesperson Officer A.J. Balajadia says the crash occurred around 9:30 this morning. Preliminary reports show the moped was driving southbound when he collided with the rear of a white Dodge Nitro.
"We do not have a positive ID of the individual but family is at GMH and the individual appears to be in his 40's to 50's," said Balajadia. Asked about any signs of speeding, he replied, "I haven't been given any indication of any causes for the crash itself."
The victim is a 48-year-old man who suffered multiple severe injuries. He is in the Trauma Unit at the Guam Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
