Guam - Commenting on last night's roundtable on his spending cuts bill Governor Calvo during a media briefing this morning said that if the wording in our bill needs more specificity or needs amending then we'll do it. "In fact we'll work on getting those amendments out to them I'll put my name behind them. If it's a matter of not looking at this solution as a viable solution and coming up with another solution then fine lets sit down and work as a government towards that end." As we reported until the legislature gets a new bill from Adelup hearings will continue on the governor's spending cuts bill including tonight's hearing on the proposed cuts for the Guam Fire Department. During last night's hearing DOA director Benita Manglona announced that those proposed cuts for GFD were going to be removed as a result of an amendment that will be introduced by Senator Mana Silva Taijeron to use savings from a recent telecommunications contract to fund GFD. Sen. Cruz said that even if the administration were to send a letter regarding the removal of the provisions related to Guam Fire he would continue with the hearings until such time Adelup submits a new spending cuts measure because the current one is filled with gaps. Manglona was criticized all night for failing to provide explanations and data to back up the spending cuts recommendations in the current legislation.
