Guam - With the theme of "Pledge to Prepare," Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio proclaimed the month of September as Guam Preparedness Month, hoping communities take a moment to remember the disasters of our past and pledge to prepare for the disasters for the future. Customs director and Guam homeland security advisor Pedro Leon Guerrero says similar disasters and emergencies in the nation test the will and resilience of the people of Guam.

He told KUAM News, "We are constantly reminded to remain vigilant when it comes to the threat of natural or manmade disasters. Taking this time to develop a preparedness plan for the entire community is a huge feat. Guam Preparedness Month promotes creating a preparedness plan for Guamanians there families, businesses and public entities to maintain order in times of disaster."

Tenorio was presented with a preparedness kit as well. Tenorio meanwhile also proclaimed September 10 through 14 as Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week.
