Raw sewage flowing into Umatac bay, river

Guam - The federal grant money comes at a time when the Guam Waterworks Authority really needs it, as just today the Guam Environmental Protection Agency issued an advisory for people to stay away from Toguan River and Toguan Bay in Umatac.  The alert was issued after reports were received from GWA that raw sewage was flowing into both from the Umatac/Merizo Waste Water Treatment Plant.

Raw sewage poses a significant threat to the environment and increases public health risks. The advisory is in effect until further notice.
