Guam - Bus stops aren't the problem, speeding motorists are. Two JFK High School students were hit by a drunk driver while walking to their bus stop along Ysengsong Road. Department of Public Works bus operations superintendent Frank Taitano says although the students' classmates are asking to relocate their bus stops, it wouldn't prevent accidents like last Friday morning's incident.

"Put it this way," he theorized. "There's no bus stops on this island that's safe at their location with the way people drive. They just need to have better drivers, more consistent of following the speed limits and maybe the bus stops then would be safer."

Taitano says a bus stop along Wusstig Road in Yigo was demolished this year after a car ran into it and destroyed the structure. Another wooden shelter along Canada Road in Toto was also damaged by speeding motorists.
