Guam - Finance Committee chairman Senator Ben Pangelinan isn't giving up on his requests for the attorney general to take action against the governor and the Department of Administration's director. Pangelinan wants the AG to compel the immediate payment of $3,000,000 in additional Child Tax Credit reimbursement to be used to pay past due tax refunds.

The Democrat lawmaker says the attorney general should protect taxpayers instead of protecting government officials who are not following the law. The governor meanwhile says he takes Pangelinan's statements with a grain of salt and finds his comments surprising.

"So I really don't see sincerity coming out from the senator," noted Governor Eddie Calvo. "The reasons why we have these shortfalls in paying tax refunds are as result of the amendments he proffered in our bond proposal that moved funds that should have gone for tax refunds for other purposes."
