Guam - The Department of Education will need some help to make it through the end of the fiscal year. According to DOE superintendent Jon Fernandez, he's working on a request to BBMR to release more of DOE's 15% reserve. Fernandez met with governor's director of communication Troy Torres and education advisor Vince Leon Guerrero as well as Guam Education Board member Joe San Agustin on Wednesday. Where they discussed the status of the reserves.

As we've been reporting, close to half of the 30-million in the frozen funding has already been released to meet payroll and utility costs. Fernandez says the final requested amount has yet to be calculated, but hopes to send the request out Thursday.

Meanwhile, increments for doe employees is on hold upon availability of funding.
