GRTA secures One-Call/On-Click Center grant
Guam - The Guam Regional Transit Authority has secured a $1.3 million grant that would aid disabled veterans and citizens with disabilities have more access to the agency's transportation services. GRTA interim executive manager Felix Dungca says with the several transportation providers on island, this will help better coordinate and schedule rides.
"The purpose of those of this center is to centralize all transportation providers on the island so that we can better coordinate providing the services to veterans, people with disabilities and just having a better more efficient. It's almost like a one-stop type of center, that's what it is," he said.
He estimates over 500 people with disabilities use the transit program. The funds will also be used to aid DISID construct their community resource center at the former goodwill across John F. Kennedy High School that would ultimately house the facility. A temporary one-call center meanwhile will be set up at the GRTA office at the DOA/DOE Building in Hagatna.
