Guam - Two JFK High School students who were struck by a car while waiting for their school bus in Dededo this morning are listed in stable condition at the Guam Memorial Hospital. The two girls, who are 14 and 15 years old, were hit by the driver a 2005 Acura Integra who fled the scene. The crash occurred just before 6am Friday.
Guam Police Department spokesperson Officer A.J. Balajadia says with the help of a witness, police were able to locate the suspect at the On the Run Mobil station in Dededo. Officers found him parked and passed out in his car that had heavy damage to its wind shield. Officer Balajadia says the witness reported that the suspect also nearly collided with a school bus but the bus driver was able to swerve out of the way to avoid the crash.
Police confirm the male driver is in custody but have not officially released his name. GPD Highway Patrol officers are currently investigating the crash so traffic along Route 28 near Stampa Road in Dededo is backed-up this morning.
In the meantime, GMH nursing supervisor Cely Mangrobang confirms that the two minors are in stable condition and nurses are waiting on readings of x-rays.
