Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo and the Guam Republican Party delegation are in Tampa, representing the island at the Republican National Convention. According to Governor Calvo, the delegation cast its nine votes early this morning, Guam time.

Governor Calvo says it was his first time as a delegate at the GOP convention and was anticipating several of the speeches leading up to Mitt Romney accepting the presidential nomination. "I'm excited because for Guam this is the closest thing we can do in terms of the political process for electing a president, because as you know we don't have an electoral college vote so for us what we can do in this party process vote for in selecting that nominee. And of course, from the very beginning our republican party of Guam has been very supportive of Governor Romney, so we do believe that Governor Romney as President Romney, we'll have a friend in the White House," he said.

The delegation includes Governor Calvo, First Lady Christine Calvo, National Committeeman Pete Ada, National Committeewoman Donna Jones, Arthur Clark, Dave Sablan, Jay Rojas, Mike McPherson, Telo Taitague, Martha Ruth and Bob Bulluck. Bulluck and the First Lady are serving as alternates. Governor Calvo will be leaving on Thursday and return to Guam in time for this Saturday's Primary Election.
