Guam - Senator Ben Pangelinan is recommending to Governor Eddie Calvo to use the final $1.56 million in unobligated Compact-Impact Funds to go toward the repair and renovation of the Untalan Middle School campus in Barrigada in order to terminate the lease of the 50-year old Tiyan facility lease which currently costs GovGuam $4.5 million per year for the next 12 years.

Pangelinan is concerned, as it was back in December 2011 the Governor approved a "sweet-heart" deal to CoreTech International for the Tiyan facility without the consent of the legislature. He suspects there may be other motives to keep such an expensive contract intact.

He hopes the $4.5 million can instead be used to maintain, renovate, and repair all public schools for the next 12 years.
