Guam - The after school DEED program is back and better. According to Department of Education deputy superintendent Rob Malay, new guidelines have been approved. In the past, elementary students could only participate in deed if parents held full-time jobs or were full-time students but that won't be the case when the program kick starts for this school year on Monday.

"It really augments what you're doing during the regular school day and it takes good focus at improving a child in reading, writing, math and physical activity to an extent," he said.

Malay says the program is a bit more expensive this year at $100 per quarter, but a steal of a deal since deed programs are supervised by highly qualified and certified teachers from 2-5pm Monday through Friday - that's $0.77 per hour.
