Guam - Six more families are now one step closer to achieving the dream of owning their own home. Early this morning, both Governor Eddie Calvo and Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio along with Committee on Housing chair Senator Tina Rose Muna Barnes and the Guam Housing Corporation signed over $46,000 worth of first-time homeowner assistance certificates.

Recipient Yigo resident Majellyn Calceta says she's excited to finally build a home for her family. "Finally, we get to buy our own house, no more renting for how many years already so just excited and thankful that they have this program for everyone who is qualified," she said.

The program is part of the GHC's First-Time Homeownership Assistance Program, which that provides families up to $10,000 for mortgage fees and closing costs. The program is made possible through the Housing Trust Fund Program, which has about a half-million dollars available for qualified mortgage applicants.
