Guam - Since drugs were discovered in the front seat of a police cruiser parked outside the Hagatna Precinct, the incident has prompted a criminal and internal affairs investigation and drug testing of at least three officers. The Guam Police Department expected it would take about 7 days to get the test results from drug tests that were ordered to be taken by three cops.

It's been about two weeks now and the results are in. On July 31 suspected crystal methamphetamine WAS found in the front part of a police car. The discovery prompted a random drug sweep of the entire Hagatna precinct and police ordering that three officers who had driven the cruiser be immediately tested for drug use.

Chief of Police Fred Bordallo in a phone interview with KUAM today confirmed that the results are in, but he won't disclose what they are.

At the advice of the Attorney General's Office, GPD is not releasing the findings at this time pending the completion of criminal and internal affairs investigations. Chief Bordallo added that following the return of the test results, personnel reassignments were made to ensure operations at the Hagatna Precinct continue without any risks or threats to the public.

KUAM has learned that only one officer was reassigned to the department's dispatch. While police are not confirming if an officer did in fact test positive for using illicit drugs at this time.

KUAM has learned this is not the first time the lone officer who was transferred has been in trouble, accused of breaking the law he swore to uphold. Last year, the police officer was arrested and charged with three counts of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct, child abuse and family violence for allegedly inappropriately touching a female minor on several occasions.

The charges against the officer were dismissed without prejudice back in January this year.

Chief Bordallo says all three officers that were drug tested are still employed with the department. He anticipates a final conclusion to the investigation within a 60-day period from the time the investigation was launched, which would be the end of September.
