Guam - The water is back on at Veterans Cemetery. The home of our fallen heroes has been without water for about a month. Although initially the VA Office thought GWA shut off their water. that turned out not to be case.

GWA crews were at the cemetery today assessing a meter that was submerged in water. According to GWA spokesperson Heidi Ballendorf crews discovered someone shut off the main water valve, GWA crews had to show VA staff how to turn the valve back on.

In the meantime, Veterans Affairs still wants a review of their monthly billings. VA administrative assistant Cindy Gogo feels they are being overcharged, saying, "According to the billing we get every month, they're telling us that we're using 570,000 gallons of water a month. I would like to know how so."

Ballendorf meanwhile says the cemetery has chronic water leak problems but they are trying to determine whether the leak is on GWA's side or is on private property. Ballendorf added the cemetery ultimately needs new water lines.

As for who was responsible for shutting off the valve, Gogo says she doesn't know but as a security measure from now on a padlock will be placed on the manhole cover over the valve.
