Guam - It's not just students preparing to hit the books, but teachers, too. Dozens of Department of Education Chamorro teachers attended their orientation on Friday. Division administrator Ronald Laguana says there are more than 130 teachers for the 20,000 students who require a Chamorro class this year.

"Today the teachers will be armed with an adopted standard for their grade levels, and we expect everyone to follow them rigorously for assessment in the coming future," he said.

The division is in the process of developing Chamorro textbooks, which Laguana hopes to have printed before Christmas, thanks to consolidated grant money.
