Guam - The United States Census Bureau is on Guam conducting the 2012 Economic Census. According to branch chief Lee Wentela and assistant division chief Charles Funk, they hope to provide a comprehensive measure of the economy on Guam.

Wentela said, "It's periodically done just to kind of get the biggest picture you can on various things like employment, capital expenditures and things like that are important to business planners and government officials," and Funk added, "The other benefit is it shows you what industries and what localities. What villages are benefiting from what's taking place in the economy and what areas could be improved by getting into a particular industry and a particular locality."

The Census Bureau is on island notifying businesses that beginning in October until December survey forms will be mailed to all businesses with more than one employee or multiple locations. The form is due in February with a report out by 2014.
