Guam - A four-year-old negligent homicide case came to a close today after Christina Tamannalon pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of misdemeanor child abuse. Tamannalon confessed in court that she was at fault for the death of her two-year-old son, Eric, who went missing at Tanguission Beach in 2008.

The toddler drowned and his body was found days later floating in the waters off Piti. It was an emotional hearing today as Judge Vern Perez accepted the plea. Tamannalon faced a one-year prison sentence, and was given credit for the 24 days she spent behind bars with the remainder being suspended.

She was placed on probation for the next year and will return to court for a progress hearing on February 19, 2013.
