Guam - The Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority's management and board is set to meet tomorrow to discuss a list of issues including how to resolve its lack of insurance coverage along with addressing the close to 6,000 families on its wait list for Section 8 and public housing. And while executive director Ray Topasna says GHURA can afford it, he has since decided to withdraw his proposal to the board for pay reclassifications for certain positions including his own because the timing probably wasn't right considering the government's financial situation.

"But basically at my discretion we can review certain positions and I can deem whether those positions need a perhaps different pay grade adjustment and I bring that forth to the board for consideration," he said.

He adds the pay grade would collectively be around $10,000 to $12,000 but is within GHURA's justification as it is 100% federally-funded. Meanwhile the board is also set to discuss adopting and upgrading its over-20-year personnel rules and to ensure its compliant with federal mandates.
