Guam - The Statue of Liberty at the Paseo De Susana gets a facelift thanks to the Boy Scouts. 17-year-old Guam High School senior Brendon Moore selected the project to reach the rank of Eagle Scout. It was 60 years ago the statue was erected by the Guam Boys Scouts of America.
"I joined the boy scouts because it's a program that can enhance a young man's life. I like the values it stands for. Scout Law: a scout is trustworthy loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent and I try to live my life by those standards."
Moore, along with 37 Boy Scouts, worked over 150 hours scraping, painting, weeding, planting, and fixing cracks in the concrete foundation. The statue was rededicated Friday morning.
