Guam - At least twenty families contacted the American Red Cross Guam Chapter seeking assistance after their homes received flood damage from Wednesday's heavy rain shower. Chief executive officer Chita Blaise says two teams combed the island meeting with the affected families to determine how much assistance the Red Cross needs to provide.

Blaise told KUAM News, "Once we conduct damage assessments, it depends on how flooded the house is if its just a few inches we would provide cleanup kits, and if it's more - where the threshold is up to the doorknob of the door - then that's flooded and everything was submerged in water."

She adds those families whose homes are severely damaged are often given food, clothing and temporary shelter.
