Legislature holding Port oversight hearing
Representatives from the Port Authority of Guam's Board and management have a date with the Legislature tomorrow evening.
Guam - Representatives from the Port Authority of Guam's Board and management have a date with the Legislature tomorrow evening. Committee chair on Transportation Senator Tom Ada has called for an oversight hearing.
He wants to get to the bottom of what's happening with the development of port properties to bring in revenue. Specifically he plans on getting information from the port on issues related to the lease agreement with Cementon Micronesia. It was in 2009 the company issued a press release announcing plans for a bulk cement terminal that would provide support to the local construction industry and the construction boom anticipated with the military buildup.
Senator Ada also wants an update from the Port on the development of hotel wharf. Thursday's oversight hearing is scheduled for 5:30pm.
