Guam - Island leaders and dignitaries paid tribute and honor to service members whose lives were lost in combat this afternoon during a Medal of Ultimate Sacrifice ceremony at the Guam Legislature. Sister Oliva Benavente was one of several families in attendance to accept the award on behalf of their loved ones.

Her brother, Staff Sergeant David Guerrero Benavente, died during the Vietnam War. She told KUAM News, "I think it's good for the family and its almost recognizing the sacrifice that they made and its also like a closure kind of thing." 

Lawmakers also presented families with the Guam Flag, a legislative resolution and unveiled an honor roll plaque listing those who died in battle to be placed at the Guam Legislature.
