Guam - As part of Corrections Week, the Department of Corrections showcased some of the weapons and restraints they use only a daily basis at the mall. The event allowed the public to learn about the operations of DepCor as well view items that are considered contraband to the facility.

The department's K-9, Tara, also gave a drug detection demonstration. Acting spokesperson Jeff Limo said, "It's very difficult to showcase Department of Corrections because it's a place of confinement, it's a place where ultimately our goal is to keep the public safe so with the inmates and detainees we do have in custody you can learn what can we do as corrections to help rehabilitate."

DOC is hosting an open house tomorrow from 9am to 4pm at the Mangilao facility as well as the Hagatna Detention.
