Guam - Reacting to the arrest of 45-year-old Okkodo High School teacher Mary Beth Nolte on child abuse and official misconduct charges, Department of Education superintendent Jon Fernandez is refraining from giving an opinion but does say he finds the report concerning.

He told KUAM News, "I heard about this last night and it's something I got my office investigating very closely; making sure we get the facts before we make any judgments, but I'm very concerned if that is the case."

As part of the investigation DOE is trying to determine when exactly the alleged incident occurred. According to DOE deputy superintendent Rob Malay although typically parents file complaints with school administration, in this case the parent went directly to the Guam Police Department.
