Guam - Seven schools may soon see fresh corn, cucumber, watermelon, and other fresh produce in their lunches. According to Senator Aline Yamashita, there is progress with pushing the initiative as she continues to meet with the Defense Logistics Agency, DOE, and the Farmers Co-Op to eventually support all 31-thousand of the island's public school children.

"Eventually we'll be providing fresh produce for all of our schools and that's really huge and that is buying local and that is supporting our farmers," he said.

Yamashita says these are baby steps in the right direction for growing the island's revenues, as she also proposes we develop coconut and bamboo groves as well as bio-prospecting our waters for medicine and technology.
