Guam - Ensuring they are combat ready, 600 soldiers with the Guam Army National Guard's 1st Battalion 294th Infantry Regiment are spending these next few days going through the solider readiness processing in preparation for the major deployment next year. The screenings check the troops' psychiatric, medical and dental condition.

Medical Detachment commander Colonel Roger Kaneshiro told KUAM News, "Just to look and see the status of each soldier in terms of their health and their readiness and any solider who has to be deployed or go on training need to have a certain level of medical readiness and this is one way of gauging it."

Soldiers are also getting assistance in taking care of their personal needs such as legal requirements, life insurance, family situation changes and security clearances.
