$10M in unclaimed refunds checks sitting at DOA
Hearings continued this morning on the proposed $773 million Executive Branch budget for Fiscal Year 2013.
Guam - Hearings continued this morning on the proposed $773 million Executive Branch budget for Fiscal Year 2013. One of the questions raised was what the Calvo Administration is doing to pay out the estimated $10 million worth of unclaimed tax refund checks sitting in boxes at the Department of Administration. Some of the checks were returned due to bad addresses.
Senators suggested posting the names of check recipients online or in the media but Department of Revenue & Taxation director John Camacho responded by saying there could be disclosure violations. You're best bet if you haven't gotten your check yet? Call DOA.
Today's hearing meanwhile lasted a little over an hour and has been recessed until an unspecified time.
