Guam - Like most residents living along Kayen Komplimento in the Macheche area of Dededo, Gil Ignacio was surprised to see police officers in his neighborhood Saturday night. "We are very quiet in this place and nobody/ nothing is happening over here," he said.

According to Guam Police Department Acting Spokesperson Sergeant Elizabeth Flickenger, 911 received a report of a shooting at around 11 o'clock Saturday night. "Where upon arrival of our officers they had seen a male individual on the ground attended by neighbors and the medics apparently he received, sustained a gunshot injury to the right arm," she said.

A green Honda Civic was parked at the mouth of the cul-de-sac today. The driver side window is shattered, there's blood splattered inside the vehicle and evidence of this bullet hole pierced through the driver side door. There was also blood trailing from the car towards the driveway of the home where the victim was found lying on the ground. Ignacio said he was just returning home after visiting a friend when he heard something may have happened to one of his next door neighbors that he described as being in the military.

He said, "But I know this newly transport military residing here maybe about two months only as a matter of fact I don't know them they just told me they are new and they're new to the neighborhood, so that's all."

Neighbors add that air force officials were at the Dededo home today clearing out the service member'ss belongings. Meantime, KUAM has learned the service member has been medivaced to Hawaii where he is undergoing treatment for his injuries.

At this point police are still piecing together what exactly happened, what prompted the shooting and are searching for the suspect or suspects involved. Flickenger said, "Supposedly a vehicle has just fled the areas somewhere in the area. all the details are still pending, pending an investigation, Criminal Investigation is taking over the case and we're looking into it."

Meantime, Andersen Air Force Base chief public affairs officer Captain Chris Hoyler tells us defense and air force regulations prohibit them from releasing details about the injured airman without his consent.
