Guam - It was on Friday, when Rear Admiral Paul Bushong bid farewell to his post on Guam and in doing so urged Guam's leadership to step up and lead, saying, "Time to tee-up your mulligan and get this buildup back on track to the benefit of the island and the people of Guam".

Bushong said local officials got what they asked for namely a smaller and slower buildup and staying within the military's existing footprint.

Today, Acting Governor Ray Tenorio reacted, saying Bushong is absolutely right. "Admiral Bushong's comments were clearly referenced on statements that have been widely publicized by elected leaders who are supposed to represent the people of Guam," he said. "As I said before, you can't be duplicitous and say when its election time you want the votes and support the buildup and other times say you don't, or lead the congressional leaders otherwise 0634 we have to be true to our words."

Tenorio adds that now is the time for government leaders to ultimately do what the people expect of them which is to represent them properly.
