Guam - Senator Chris Duenas is hoping Speaker Judi Won Pat will change her mind and not delay August's legislative session which he says was initially scheduled to start on August 7th. Duenas was hoping to have public hearing requirements waived and have his Bucks for Busses bill placed on session agenda. The legislation would require senators to take a pay cut , with the savings to help the Department of Public Works school bus crisis. The republican senator says the Speaker who also chairs to committee on education has decided to delay session until August 27th. In a memo to lawmakers Won Pat also said this allows ample time for a public hearing on the bill. Senator Duenas however says the decision to delay session will not allow the legislature to resolve the bus crisis until after the school year begins " I would hate to see our school children bussed late to school at the start of the school year because of your recent decision to postpone session," stated Duenas.
