Guam - A global organization committed to preserving, protecting and promoting freedom and democracy will be establishing a chapter on Guam. The Korea Freedom Federation will be hosting an opening ceremony this evening where its president Chang Dal Park will appoint a new Guam chapter president in longtime Guam resident Philip Ahn.

Event organizer Doyon Ahn Morato told KUAM News, "This organization is a global organization. They have chapters all around the world and this is the first time they're opening up a chapter on Guam, which we think is very important especially with our proximity and with our big local Korean community here."

She adds there are nearly 5,000 Koreans living on Guam. The Federation meanwhile was established in 1954 after the Korean War and is part of the United Nations. The event starts at 6:30pm at the Guam Marriot Resort.
