Guam - The public will have a chance to provide input on the government's plans for the Tiyan Parkway project. A public hearing is being held this evening at the Tamuning Senior Citizens Center.
An environmental assessment was conducted and officials intend to construct the new roadway in two phases. The first would be completely on Airport property from Route 8 near San Jose Market to the existing Sunset Boulevard just east of the former police headquarters. The second phase is what is expected to draw more criticism because the government would need to acquire cliffline property from original landowners to intersect the parkway with Route 10-a.
It's estimated the land acquisition will cost the government $5,000,000. The public hearing will last until eight o'clock this evening.
