by Mindy Aguon
Guam - World Electric and Construction Company, Inc. (WECCO) will pay close to $80,000 in back wages to a dozen workers. The U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division found violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act's minimum wage, overtime and recordkeeping provisions.
WECCO failed to pay employees at least the Minimum Wage during their initial period of employment instead giving them a $10 a day meal allowance. The company also failed to pay overtime for hours worked beyond 40 hours.
